Swansea is a town Massachusetts located at the mouth of the Taunton River, west of Fall River with a population of around 15,865. Swansea was named after the city of Swansea in Wales. William Brenton purchased the land from Native Americans. Parts of the town were originally part of Rehoboth, MA.In 1667 the first Baptist church in Massachusetts moves to Swansea, leaving Rehoboth due to religious intolerance causing Swansea to be incorporated as an independent town. The land now known as Barrington, Rhode Island was separated from Swansea in 1717 again due to religious differences.>Source: Wikipedia
