More Information About Howland Mill Village
Howland Mill Village is a significant part of New Bedford’s mill housing. This village was constructed around 1888-1889 with around 50 single-family homes located along semi-linear streets. It is the only example of this type of mill housing in New Bedford. The village retains its original planned character of Clipped gable and gambrel roof cottages despite the exterior and interior alterations such as synthetic siding, window and door replacements as well as porch additions and removals.
