Who Lived here in the early 1900s?
Ah, this is our favorite part. Few care to do this as part of their marketing process, but SRG just loves, loves, loves doing research going waaaay back on our listings of older homes.
So without further ado, here is what we found on this one:

The year was 1905, and the local mailman was enjoying his newly constructed home at 15 Glover St.
Walter Whittaker was born in England in 1875 to Richard and Ellen (Butterworth) Whittaker. He was a letter carrier for the US Postal Service and also provided services as a Bass Soloist for Concerts, Lodge Meetings, Entertainments, Weddings, and Funerals.
He and his wife Ruth (Barnes) Whittaker lived in this Cottage from June 1905 through October 1909 with their daughter Doris E. Whittaker. 15 Glover would’ve been Doris’ childhood home from the age of 6 through 10.
Just 2 days shy from Halloween, the Whittakers sold the home to Jerusha R. Cannon who had just lost her eldest son Willie 5 months prior. She lived there with her 2 children, Frank & Marion and also rented to boarders who had immigrated from Ireland and England.
This home served as the Cannon residence from 1909 through 1914.
In 1914, another Englishman, Thomas Sheard purchased the property. He was a Conductor, Policeman and later a Boat Builder, and called this place home from 1914 to 1917. He lived there with his wife Agnes before moving to 30 Potter St in New Bedford.
In 1917, it was sold to Thomas Seddon, yet another fine Englishman, who was also a Police Officer for the City. He lived there with his wife Alice and his 3 daughters. This home stayed in the Seddon family for several decades later…
