The Captain James Allen House
Captain James Allen made the pivot from Whaling Captain, to Farmer around 1851. After 20 years of service in the whaling industry, he was ready to retire and settle down in Acushnet to start a farm.
By then, he had been married to his 2nd wife Eliza Anne (White) for 5 years. Eliza was the daughter of Ansel White. She was deeded an 1+ acre parcel of land on Long Plain, and Capt.
