about Mr. Charles M. Carroll a Developor/Landlord from New Bedford, MA.
Charles Marquis Carroll, was born on February 22, 1876, in New Bedford, Massachusetts. His parents were Thomas P. and Elizabeth (Ryan) Carroll.
Charles started earning money at the age of ten, gradually progressing from odd jobs to newspaper routes. Eventually, he became a traveling salesman, then superintendent and owner of F. S. Brightman & Company, a wholesale stationery business. In 1897, Charles ventured into real estate, developing significant portions of New Bedford. Known for his generosity, Carroll organized patriotic events, raised funds for charitable causes, and prioritized community service. He married Mattie Josephine Burkle, and they had three children. Charles M. Carroll’s impact extended beyond business, making him a respected figure in both the business world and the community.
In 1921 he purchased a building at 150 Page St. New Bedford, MA aftering severing his connection the Brightman company and entered business for himself.
